DR Missions
Our mission ministry in the Dominican Republic was founded on Psalm 78:7 "That they might set their hope in Him." Our ministry serves poor neighborhoods in the San Cristobal area. The DR Missions Team ministers through the Bread of Life Children's Ministry, a six-day-a-week outreach to about 100 children. The team leads Bible studies, teach life-skills and offer various activities for the children. They have a daily feeding program and share the love of Christ with the children. They also have an active youth group with many events and outings. Around town, the DR Missions Team spends time praying with people in different neighborhoods and the local free hospital. They also meet needs in the community through medical outreaches and community improvement projects. They have a young mothers' program. They have a vision to offer a Pre-School to the community. This plan is in development for 2024.
Summer interns and mission teams are hosted by our DR Team throughout the year. The interns and mission team members have a wonderful opportunity to engage and serve the needs of people in our ministry setting. Contact us if you or your group would like to serve in the DR in the future.
Our GCI-DR Mission team currently includes:
Directors Tyler and Callie Franca and Missionary Hannah Hoose.
This DR mission work was pioneered by Missionaries Rick and Carie Bernard, who served with GCI for over 20 years. We are grateful for their service. We are blessed to build on the foundation they helped to form. We are excited and expectant as God continues to enable us to touch lives for Jesus and expand this mission work into the future for His Kingdom and Glory.
